Employers Detail Drug Programs ATLANTA -- Creating and maintaining a "zero tolerance" environment for drugs in the workplace has cost the Atlanta-based Georgia Power Company almost $200,000 in legal fees, according to Charles W. Whitney, executive assistant to the company president. "Is it worth it? Yes, absolutely, it's worth it," he said at a recent conference here.

The Georgia Power Co. officer said the big utility had won 16 of 19 cases submitted to arbitration by members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers who were dismissed or disciplined after workplace drug or alcohol abuse.
