AIA Backs N.J. Gov.'s Auto Fraud Battle The American Insurance Association has pledged its support to New Jersey Gov. James Florio's battle against costly insurance fraud. Robert A. Gaines, vice president of Washington, D.C.-based AIA's New York/New Jersey region, said, "We wholeheartedly support Gov.
Florio's declaration of war against insurance fraud. We will stand side by side with the governor fighting to reduce illegal and fraudulent claims." According to the governor, false claims cost New Jersey auto insurers as much as $750 million a year, adding $80 to the price of a typical auto insurance policy.
