Halon Replacement Eyed By Factory Mutual Study The development of fire suppressants that do not have the ozone-depletion characteristics of halons is the subject of a study that will be undertaken by Factory Mutual Research Corp. A $132,600 contract was awarded to the Norwood, Mass.-based FMRC, the non-profit research arm of Factory Mutual Engineering and Research to conduct a study that will lay the groundwork for a multi-year research project.

The contract was awarded by ICF Incorporated, a Fairfax-Va., based contractor for the Environmental Protection Agency.
