Fighting With Lawyers On Auto No-Fault Called `Nuts' CHICAGO - Battling the powerful plaintiff attorney lobby over no-fault automobile legislation is "nuts," according to Progressive Corp. Chairman Peter Lewis, who advised auto insurers that to get no-fault laws passed they must focus their energy on gaining the public's confidence.

The head of Beachwood, Ohio-based Progressive, whose subsidiaries ranked 11th nationally in aggregate auto earned premiums last year, said auto insurers have "mindlessly screamed for years that lawyers and the tort system are the cause of all their problems."
