Rep. John Dingell, The Elephant And The Blind Men Sometimes when I think of Rep. John Dingell's foray into insurance, and, more recently, state regulation, I am reminded of the old joke about the elephant and the blind men. Running his hands along the side of the elephant, one blind man determines that he is touching a wall, while the second man proclaims the elephant's leg to be a tree trunk.

Both are lacking the benefit of the big picture. Now that Rep. Dingell has set his sights on the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, I wonder, if he too is examining just part of the regulatory beast. Surely, if Rep.
