Cigna Covers WC Self.-Ins. Shock Loss To provide employers with "sleep tight security," Cigna Special Benefits Cos. has developed a new package to protect self-insured workers' compensation programs from shock loss. Employers who self-insure workers' compensation benefits can reasonably predict high frequency/low cost disability and medical claims.
Occupational fatalities and catastrophic medical injuries, however, are low frequency/high cost claims, and are more difficult to plan for.
