Controversy Erupts Over Liberty Mutual's WC Plan A controversy has erupted over a Dec. 2 National Underwriter article outlining Liberty Mutual's alleged workers' compensation strategy calling for a drastic reduction in underwriting next year. Industry insiders have expressed concern and even anger over the news, but no one seemed surprised by Liberty's alleged plans to stop writing new business in 17 states, and scale back significantly in many others, as of Jan.
