Hunter, NICO join Consumer Federation. (former Texas insurance commissioner J. Robert Hunter, National Insurance Consumer Organization)

J. Robert Hunter, who resigned as Texas insurance commissioner last month, will be returning to advocacy on behalf of insurance consumers, having accepted a job as director of insurance for the Consumer Federation of America. Mr. Hunter will be bringing his former colleagues at the National Insurance Consumer Organization with him to the Washington-based CFA.

NICO, which Mr. Hunter founded in 1980, will be folded into CFA and will effectively become the insurance arm of that organization, a non-profit association of about 240 pro-consumer groups. James H. Hunt, a NICO director and life and health insurance specialist, will join CFA as chief life/health actuary, while NICO President Kathleen F. O'Reilly will become CFA's insurance counsel.
