The risk of workplace violence became chillingly real to one insurance conipany home-office official when colleagues at a branch facility cried out to her for help over the phone while a crazed gunman invaded the premises looking for his estranged spouse. "They were telling us about what was happening and asking for advice" while the attack was underway in the Fresno office of TIG, recalled Cathy Brown, who at the time of the attack happened to be on the phone with Fresno on an unrelated matter as director of training and development with the former Transamerica Insurance Group in Los Angeles.
