NEW YORK--Regulators want to be kept apprised of any moves made by the National Council on Compensation Insurance to change to a for-profit entity, insurance commissioners declared here at their summer meeting. "It's important to be open about this as you go forward," said South Dakota Insurance Director Darla Lyon at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners' summer meeting.

William Hager, president and chairman of the Boca Raton, Fla.-based NCCI, first announced the possibility of NCCI becoming a for-profit organization at the group's annual meeting in April.
