NEW YORK -- Various new insurance industry-specific technologies designed to easily capture, monitor and analyze large volumes of data, such as "data warehousing" and "data mining," were featured among the myriad of exhibits at the recent Financial Technology Expo. For example, Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based Platinum Technology unveiled "RiskAdvisor," a Windowsbased software application that uses what is known in computing as a "data warehouse" model to store vast amounts of information in insurance industry-specific tables.
A data warehouse consolidates data from different operational systems to support the decision-making needs of particular business functions, the company explained in its brochure. End users may include underwriters, risk managers, claims...
