NEW YORK--As part of its cross-industry "E-Business" strategy to help firms reach customers through the Internet, International Business Machines Corp. has launched a set of network-based products and services specifically tailored to the insurance industry. In addition, Lotus Development Corp., a subsidiary of IBM, has introduced an interactive Web application server called "Domino," designed as groupware for the Internet and intranet systems.

Both IBM and Lotus agreed that the Web "browser war" will become less important, and what will become more of a concern will be products to improve workflow and productivity, server software, and other Internet and intranet services.
