WASHINGTON - The American Insurance Association, is expected to formally adopt a new position on banking and insurance that supports affiliations subject to clearly defined functional regulation. David Pratt, senior vice president of federal affairs for the Washington-based AIA, told the national Underwriter he expects the board to formally approve the new policy this week.
In addition, the Alexandria, Va.-based National Association of Professional Insurance Agents has formally changed its position on affiliations, voting lastweek to no longer oppose affiliations so long as state regulation is preserved and consumer protections are enacted.
