ISO Y2K Exclusions Spark Debate At NAIC.

A Massachusetts regulator was one of only a few to raise questions about the implications to commercial policyholders of insurance departments approving exclusions for Year 2000 claims introduced by the Insurance Services Office Inc. Steve D'Amato, director of the state rating bureau at the Massachusetts Division of Insurance, made his remarks during a special session of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Combined Personal Lines and Commercial Lines Property Casualty C&D Committees at the NAIC's Summer meeting here.

Mr. D'Amato said business groups haven't actively participated in the process that has led at least two states- Illinois and Iowa-to approve the Y2K ISO exclusions. He said once the Y2K problems come home to roost, business groups...
