ISO Buys NCCI WC Statistical Rival IDR.

The Insurance Services Office, Inc. said its push into the workers' compensation insurance information field has led it to buy Insurance Data Resources, Inc. The decision by New York-based ISO to buy the startup company, IDR, follows last year's rejection of its offer to buy IDR's 75-year-old, not-for-profit, industry-owned competitor, the National Council on Compensation Insurance.

IDR and NCCI are both based in Boca Raton, Fla. No terms for the transaction were revealed. IDR has 74 employees, some of whom work out of home offices, compared with NCCI, which has 1,200 employees, and ISO, which employs 2,400.
