A National Council on Compensation Insurance request for a statewide overall average 6.2 percent increase in Florida's workers' compensation rates has come under fire from employers who say the hike should not be granted until more is done to combat fraud. If approved as filed, workers' comp rates for manufacturing classes would increase by 0.9 percent, contracting classes by 8.5 percent, and office and clerical classes by 4.6 percent.

Goods and services classes would increase by 6.5 percent and miscellaneous classes by 6.9 percent.
