As with the rest of the nation, uncertainty was the key word for the insurance industry in the aftermath of last weeks election. At press time, the presidential contest was still up in the air, with the prospect of litigation adding to the confusion. Moreover, while Republicans retained control of Congress, the narrower margins in the House and especially the Senate make bipartisan-ship a necessity if anything is to get done, industry observers contend.

But it was anyone's guess whether bipartisanship would emerge from the current political haze. Robert E.
