Analysts appeared to be happy to hear that Aon Corp. reported per-share earnings and net income were up for both the fourth quarter and full year of 2000 after being surprised with news of job cuts during the third quarter. For the year, Chicago-based Aon reported net income up 35 percent in 2000 over the prior year.
The firm reported net income at $474 million for the year ending Dec. 31, 2000, compared to $352 million during the same period for 1999. For the quarter, net income was reported up 500 percent--from $13 million in 1999 to $90 million in 2000. During a conference call with stock analysts broadcast over the Web on Feb. 8, Patrick G.
