Judge gives go ahead on 9/11 suits.(Top Stories Of The Week)

A federal judge is allowing a suit by victims' families against airline carriers, airport operators, security agencies and Boeing to go ahead, saying that they may share in the responsibility for the tragic events of Sept. 11. U.S. District Court Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein, sitting in Manhattan, said a suit by 70 individuals either injured or representing those killed in the attack, and ten others whose property was damaged in the attack, has merit and can go forward.

The plaintiffs said they plan to appeal. Judge Hellerstein, in his decision, said the airlines, airport security companies, airport operators, Boeing, and the operator and owners of the World Trade Center all had a duty to the plaintiffs to anticipate "that terrorists would hijack several jumbo...
