Planners at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport next year will begin their own version of a roadwork project that will require more than just orange cones and flashing signs. Because the promise of alleviating constant service delays and air traffic congestion at Hopkins lies in the form of a new runway now under construction, airport planners will be busy the next 21/2 years juggling major construction projects related to a lengthening of that runway while putting to use the initial 7,000 feet of the runway once it's done.
