New act sparks merger talk in electric industry; Will FirstEnergy be hunter or hunted?

Byline: JAY MILLER The electric utility industry is on the brink of a new era of mergers and acquisitions, and Akron's FirstEnergy Corp. is likely to be a player. The only question appears to be whether it will be a buyer or a seller. Next month, the Public Utilities Holding Company Act will be wiped off the books by the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
