Lincoln hitches star to GM in bid to sell robots Lincoln Electric Co. has entered into an agreement with a unit of General Motors Corp. that Lincoln hopes will eventually boost its sales by at least $6 million a year and position it firmly in the largely untapped automated welding equipment market.
Euclid-based Lincoln signed a marketing agreement with GMFanuc Robotics Corp. of Auburn Hills, Mich. GMF is a 7-year-old joint venture between General Motors and Fanuc Ltd. of Yamanashi, Japan. Lincoln will market robots made by GMF in Japan to Lincoln's customer base of 27,000 metalworking companies, most of which are smaller firms that have shied away from automation.
