BP America streamlines operation; corporate restructuring is target of project 1990.

BP America streamlines operation BP America Inc. has launched a major corporate restructuring, emphasizing a cut in bureaucracy and refocusing the duties of James Ross, its president and chief executive officer. The makeover is all part of a reorganization drive by parent British Petroleum to become the most successful oil company in the world.

Under what is called Project 1990, the goal here is to simplify business reporting requirements for Cleveland-based managers, who will be doing more direct reporting to a slimmed-down London headquarters.
