Penton names European GM to push sales Penton Publishing here has announced a move to continue expanding its European subscription and advertising sales operation. John Allen, publisher of Penton's School & College magazine, has been promoted to general manger of Penton's European operations.
He will move to England in the fall. Mr. Allen, who grew up in London, will open an office north of London, said Jerry Neff, Penton's senior vice president. Mr. Neff said the company is opening the office because sales there were up 37% in 1989 from the previous year. And, he said, European sales have expanded this year with the acquisition last August of Electronics and Electronic Design magazine from VNU Publishing, a Dutch company.
