Continental soars above rivals at Hopkins Continental Airlines is gaining altitude over its competitors at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Continental's passenger traffic figures are running more than 70% ahead of its closest competitor, USAir Inc., and the Houston-based carrier is on course to capture a 50% share of the passenger market at Hopkins in the next two years.
"A year ago I couldn't sell Continental to save my soul," said Lynda Jenkins, a manager at Meridian Travel Inc., located on Van Epps Road in Cleveland. "Now it's no problem. The service has improved dramatically." Perks to business travelers, such as upgrading coach tickets to first class at no charge if seats are available, have helped, Ms. Jenkins said.
