FTC antitrust probe looks at recruiting by 4 top law firms Four of Cleveland's largest law firms are under investigation by the Federal Trade Commission for possible violation of antitrust laws in connection with their recruiting of new lawyers. The four firms are Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue; Squire, Sanders & Dempsey; Baker & Hostetler; and Arter & Hadden.

Lawyers with three of the firms denied any wrongdoing and said they were in full compliance with the law. A representative from Squire Sanders couldn't be reached for comment by press time. The FTC probe was confirmed by Cathy Petryshyn, recruiting director at Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff.
