Navy continues battle to keep Finance Center With up to 1,500 jobs at stake, the Navy Finance Center here is continuing to battle renewed efforts by the Air Force to consolidate all military pay operations in Denver. Capt. Thomas Nelson, second in command at the Navy Finance Center downtown, told Crain's he's aware of ongoing Air Force maneuvers inside the Pentagon and with Congress to push its consolidation plan.

He said he recently spent time in Washington, D.C., explaining to top Defense Department brass why the Navy's payroll center should remain here.
