Labor Dept. readies complaint vs. Clinic The U.S. Department of Labor is planning to file within the next month an administrative complaint against the Cleveland Clinic Foundation alleging violations of the equal employment provisions of its federal contracts. The complaint would be part of enforcement proceedings which can result in a contractor being stripped of federal funds.
An investigation by the department's Office of Federal Contract Compliance in Cleveland in July 1989 found that the Clinic's protective services division discriminated against black employees. Sandra Kramer, an attorney with the Labor Department's solicitor's office in Cleveland, said her office will recommend to the department's regional office in Chicago that the complaint be filed.
