Goodyear divides executive duties to key turnaround The management shakeup announced last week by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has put the spotlight on Hoyt M. Wells, a 40-year veteran of the company's non-tire businesses who was named president and chief operating officer. Mr. Wells was tapped for the posts at a special directors' meeting called last week to act on a realignment and cost-cutting program designed to help turn around Goodyear's sagging fortunes.

Goodyear's bottom line has been on a slide since 1987, with the company last year reporting a loss of $38.3 million.
