RTA takes healthcare outside Metro, St. Vincent get pacts totaling $478,700 The Regional Transit Authority trustees voted unanimously May 21 to drop in-house employee medical-care service and award contracts worth a total of $478,700 to two hospitals. Soaring healthcare costs prompted the move, according to Mary Jo LaPorte, RTA's assistant general manager for human resources.

The RTA board's human resources committee proposed that the agency contract with MetroHealth Medical Center on Cleveland's West Side to treat work-related injuries and St. Vincent Charity Hospital and Health Center downtown for pre-employment health examinations and drug screenings, Ms. LaPorte said.
