Sharp Advertising shuts doors After 36 years in business, Sharp Advertising Inc. has closed its doors due to the collapse of talks to sell the ad shop and the loss of the multimillion-dollar OfficeMax Inc. broadcast ad account to an out-of-town mega-agency. Agency president Gary T. Sharp was reached at the Beachwood corporate offices of OfficeMax an office-supply retailer, where he has set up an office.

Mr. Sharp said his agency closed on July 26 and is "in the process" of filing for Chapter 7 liquidation. Mr. Sharp said he had been in "intense negotiations" over the past couple months to sell the agency to a major New York firm, which he declined to identify. He said he fired the agency's staff of about 10 employees last month because he thought the ad shop...
