Computer consultant plucks Apple project. (Richard Miller of InfoMasters Inc. starts contract with Apple Computer Inc.)

Richard Miller would love to take another bite of the Apple. Apple Computer Inc., that is. The maker of the Macintosh computer has reached across the country from its home base of Cupertino, Calif., in search of a computer consulting firm -- which it found at Mr. Miller's company in Lakewood.

InfoMasters Inc., at 14805 Detroit Road, was contacted by Apple in January 1990 to work through June on a sales reporting system for the company. "They (Apple) looked for skills on the West Coast ... but couldn't find them," said Mr. Miller, who is InfoMasters' president. InfoMasters' performance on the short-term contract immediately led to a year-long contract. That project was entitled Account Database -- a process of defining customers and creating customer profiles...
