Occupancy off again; small community hospitals feel impact. (Ohio) (Industry Overview)

It almost sounds like a broken hi-fi: Hospitals in northeastern Ohio continued to see their occupancy rates decline last year. Nearly three out of four hospitals in Crain's seven-county coverage area saw their patient volumes decrease last year, compared with 1990, according to audited registration and planning reports which hospitals file each year with the Ohio Department of Health.
Eleven hospitals saw their occupancy rates rise and two hospitals' occupancy rates remained unchanged. Of the 35 hospitals which experienced decreases, it appears that smaller community hospitals took the biggest hit.
