The Cleveland-area economy could get off easy when it comes to private industry job losses that will result from deep cuts in defense spending, according to a just-completed survey of defense contractors. Although hundreds of northeastern Ohio companies sell products to the Pentagon as either prime contractors or subcontractors, they don't appear to be heavily dependent on this business for their sales, according to a survey of 108 northeastern Ohio manufacturers by Cleveland State University.
