It wasn't too many years ago that the investor relations motto at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. could have been "Mum's the word." Communication with Wall Street wasn't good, said Harry Millis, a tire industry analyst at Fundamental Research Inc. in Willoughby. Mr. Millis said it seemed almost as if the company dared analysts to "just come to Akron and try to pry something out of us." Now, he said, "I'm glad to say that all has changed." Analysts attribute the apparent sea change in attitude in part to Goodyear's more communicative chairman and chief executive officer, Stanley Gault, and in part to Dianne Davis, who assumed the post of director of investor relations about one year ago.
