Merger mania marches on: St. John, St. Vincent seeking new partner. (St. John West Shore Hospital and St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio)

The organization that owns St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake and St. Vincent Charity Hospital in downtown Cleveland is in talks to link those hospitals with one of at least three potential partners. Crain's Cleveland Business has learned that the CSA Health Network is talking about combining the two hospitals with Health Cleveland, a hospital network that includes Fairview General Hospital and Lutheran Medical Center.

CSA spokeswoman Karen Malone said last Friday the system also has talked with Primary Health Systems of Wayne, Pa. The for-profit healthcare company last month acquired St. Alexis Medical Center and agreed to buy Deaconess Hospital. In addition, Ms. Malone said CSA is discussing a possible link of the two hospitals with a new joint venture...
