Premier Car Rental steers toward sale

KRISTEN BAIRD Operating under the threat of the repo man, Premier Car Rental Inc. is nearing a deal to sell the insurance replacement car rental company, according to two sources familiar with the negotiations. While the sources, who both asked not to be identified, declined to reveal the identity of the likely suitor, they named three potential buyers.
They include Budget Group Inc. of Daytona Beach, Fla.; Hertz Corp. of Park Ridge, N.J.; and Republic Industries Inc. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Premier's attorney, David Inglis of the Cleveland law firm Benesch Friedlander Coplan & Aronoff, declined to comment on whether the company was pursuing a sale.
