Robinson Memorial Hospital, one of the region's last independent hospitals, is considering joining up with a larger hospital network. The Portage County hospital has asked health systems anchored by the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals of Cleveland to provide it with information about the benefits of joining either of their systems.

The hospital is weighing its options to determine whether it needs to join a larger hospital network or remain independent, said Stephen Colecchi, Robinson's president and chief executive officer. The community hospital intends to decide its fate by Sept. 1, he said. Robinson Memorial is licensed to provide 190 beds, but only staffs 131. The hospital has a current occupancy rate of 55%.
