HOPE IN DESPAIR.

We've taken no joy reporting over the last month on the travails of Gliatech Inc., which has been held up as a poster child for what could be if Cleveland were to succeed in becoming an epicenter of biomedical research and development. Whether Gliatech can get back on track after hitting a big speed bump on the road to growth is uncertain, but even if it doesn't, we hope its recent problems don't deter investors and lenders from taking chances on the rising number of promising technology companies that are emerging in Northeast Ohio.
The month of October is probably one they'd like to forget at Gliatech, a biomedical company that created a gel that reduces adhesions and scarring after back surgery. The gel, Adcon-L, has won acceptance in the medical community...
