Akron's Myers Industries buys Mich. rotomolder.(Myers Industries Inc. acquires Best Plastics Inc.)(Brief Article)

Myers Industries Inc. in Akron has strengthened its stake in the recreational vehicle market by purchasing Best Plastics Inc. of Cassopolis, Mich. Myers bought the privately held thermoformer and rotation-al molder for an undisclosed amount of cash. Best Plastics had sales of about $15 million last year.

Best Plastics will be integrated with Myers' Ameri-Kart Corp. subsidiary, a rotomolder and thermoformer in Bristol, Ind., that also counts RVs as a major market. Ameri-Kart had estimated rotomolding sales of $26 million in 1999, according to a ranking in Plastics News, a sister publication of Crain's Cleveland Business. Ameri-Kart president Eric Gottuso said Best's plant will remain open. Former Best owners Melvin and Shirley Stewart will not be involved...
