Multimillion-dollar facelift in progress at St. Vincent.(St. Vincent Charity Hospital invests $8.3 million for renovations)(Brief Article)

St. Vincent Charity Hospital downtown is in the midst of an $8.3 million makeover designed to give it a fresh look and to expand services. The cost of upgrades could mushroom to between $16 million and $24 million in the next two years as the hospital makes more improvements and technology purchases, said St.
Vincent president Alan Channing. The wide-ranging capital improvement projects range from power washing the hospital's exterior and replacing two roofs to redesigning its emergency department and opening a trauma unit. "We have to make the (hospital) look and feel like it's a contemporary facility," Mr. Channing said.
