Media giant Clear Channel Communications Inc. isn't satisfied with what it estimates is a 50% share of the radio advertising market in Greater Cleveland. It now wants a bigger piece of the pie. The owner of eight radio stations in Cleveland and Akron currently is looking for more stations to acquire in the surrounding area and next year hopes to increase to 55% its share of the radio advertising market in Cleveland, said Jim Meltzer, Clear Channel's regional vice president for Northeast Ohio.
Though Clear Channel under federal regulations can't buy more radio stations in Cleveland, Mr. Meltzer said the company could purchase stations in places such as Akron, Sandusky and Youngstown. Federal regulations prohibit one company from buying stations that would...
