Dark clouds and long faces are prevalent at the Cleveland office of Arthur Andersen LLP, but while Lou Grabowsky knows things could be better here, he also knows they could be worse. The managing partner of Andersen's Great Lakes Region acknowledges that layoffs have been a painful reality in Cleveland since the accounting firm announced April 8 it would cut at least 7,000 of its 28,000 U.S.

employees.
