Royal buys rights to health, beauty product line.(Royal Appliance Manufacturing Co., Medisana AG)(Brief Article)

Royal Appliance Manufacturing Co., which for years has concentrated on housework with its Dirt Devil vacuum cleaners, now wants to help people pamper and care for themselves. The Glenwillow company recently paid $800,000 for the rights to sell in North America the health and beauty aid products made by Medisana AG of Germany, said Mike Merriman, Royal's chairman and CEO.
It's the first licensing venture for Royal since January, when the company formed Product Launch Partners, a subsidiary that is designed to help inventors take their products to the retail market. Though Medisana has been in business for 15 years, the maker of medical bedding, massage therapy products and hand and foot care products wasn't big enough to supply North American retailers, Mr....
