Bard to close Mentor plant; 240 jobs to go.(C.R. Bard Inc. )(Brief Article)(Statistical Data Included)

Despite pumping millions of dollars into the operation in recent years, C.R. Bard Inc. will close its medical products plant in Mentor over the next year in a corporate efficiency move that will eliminate about 240 manufacturing jobs. At its peak earlier this year, the Mentor plant had 330 permanent and temporary contract workers.
However, Bard last month began implementing a restructuring that will result in the transfer of about 90 of those jobs to Mexico by the end of the year. Bard corporate spokeswoman Holly Glass said some of the Mentor manufacturing operations will be moved to a plant in Glens Falls, N.Y., which is one of nine Bard manufacturing plants in the United States.
