* COLLABORATIVE EFFORT: A Japanese pharmaceutical company has expanded its collaboration with Cleveland-based Quark Biotech. Fujisawa Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. increased the annual research funding it provides to Quark. The amount of the funding wasn't disclosed. Quark said the money would be used to expand its joint efforts to discover drug treatments for stroke victims.
The partners' original agreement had Quark working to identify genes that could be used as targets for the development of drugs to treat strokes.
