Byline: David Bennett It's a long way from St. John's University in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Notre Dame College of Ohio, as Kathleen Burke can attest. That journey, which includes 29 years at the Cleveland law firm Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue, where she is a partner, not only defines how far Ms. Burke has come, but what still lies ahead.

The stops so far have been impressive. One of the first women to be named a partner at Jones Day, Ms. Burke also can say she was the first woman president of the Ohio State Bar Association.
