McDonald Hopkins moniker shrinks as firm size increases.(law firm changes name)

Byline: SCOTT SUTTELL At McDonald Hopkins, the law firm's name is getting shorter and its space needs are getting larger. The firm last week took what has become a trendy step among Cleveland law firms by changing its name simply to McDonald Hopkins from McDonald, Hopkins, Burke & Haber Co., its moniker since 1989, and by introducing a new corporate logo.

During recent months, big firms including Jones Day and Thompson Hine have shortened their official names to match the way most people in the legal community refer to them. Joe LoPresti, the firm's president, said the name change comes during a time of major growth for McDonald Hopkins, which has 86 lawyers, an increase of about 25% from three years ago.
