Airport tenant sees jobs over horizon.(News)(Avcraft Aviation L.L.C., Akron-Canton Regional Airport)

Byline: JAY MILLER The misfortune of one of aviation's historic names stands to be a big plus for Akron-Canton Regional Airport. Ben Bartel, CEO of Avcraft Aviation LLC of Leesburg, Va., said his company, which recently entered the aircraft construction business, plans to consolidate aircraft refurbishing and maintenance operations at its existing fixed-base and maintenance operation at the airport in Stark County.
The move could add more than 200 jobs in the next few years to the 80 employees already there. Earlier this year, Avcraft bought the German aircraft production operation of Fairchild Dornier Corp., a U.S.-German alliance that made a small jet aircraft for the corporate and regional air carrier markets.
