Byline: HENRY GOMEZ While the cinders of Phil Davis' chicken-and-waffles enterprise smolder, an Atlanta businessman is poking the ashes and pondering whether to revive Phil the Fire at its Gateway location. Mr. Davis last month shuttered his comfort food restaurants on Prospect Avenue and at Shaker Square, citing money problems and increased competition from chain restaurants sprouting in Greater Cleveland.

He said sales at Shaker Square had dropped more than 50% since December. The Gateway location on Prospect had struggled as well. "We just didn't have enough cash,'' Mr. Davis said last week in an interview with Crain's Cleveland Business.
